Wanner-Freyland and Matilda Miljand broaden the theoretical discussion on the drivers and enablers of successful partnerships, emphasizing that these are not two sides of the same coin. Their argument is supported by rich, original survey and interview data on transnational multi-stakeholder partnerships, which pinpoint the challenges and critical barriers that undermine the effectiveness of cross-sectoral collaborations.
